The Foreshore Committee is having a working bee on Sunday and weeding walk on Monday of the coming long weekend. 10am, Sunday 11 June – Planting Working Bee: meet at the intersection of Surf St (east) and the south/east corner of tennis courts. We will also be tackling some agapanthus. Full details below. 11am, Monday 12 June – Weeding Walk: meet at the Bluff Rd Fire Track Gate. Join Professor Nick Williams for a guided walk through the foreshore, plant identification and some hands-on weeding. Activities: Planting seedlings and grasses to revegetate areas of the foreshore reserve, also removing kikuyu grass and agapanthus What to bring/wear: – appropriate clothes, footwear and sunscreen – gloves – equipment for planting (small spades and trowels etc) – mallet for driving stakes into the ground for tree guards – spades, tools and wheel barrows for removing kikuyu grass and agapanthus All children, their families and carers are welcome.
