Nature Walk – Merricks Foreshore

Join Nick Williams (Professor of Ecology at the University of Melbourne) for our first guided nature walk of 2026 on the Merricks Beach Foreshore.
When: Sunday, 11 January starting at 10am
Meeting point: Surfies Lookout, about half way along the Fire Track
What to bring/wear:
– appropriate clothes, hat and sunscreen
– sturdy footwear – for walking on uneven terrain
We will start by walking down the ‘Pine Slide’ track looking at the native vegetation, bird life and discussing the proposed works at the bottom of the Pine Slide to address the erosion. Then along the foreshore and back up returning to our starting point.
There will be some off track and uphill walking and we will cover some distance, so a level of fitness will be required.
All children, their families and carers are welcome. A reminder that children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for their care and wellbeing.
