Like everyone, the MBRA committee has been anxiously monitoring the rates of new COVID-19 cases and the terms of the public health orders implemented to respond to the pandemic, in our case to seek to understand whether it will be possible to conduct our traditional summer events as normal or, indeed, at all. At the time of publication of this edition of Merricks Matters, things are looking promising but it still remains to be seen if it will be possible to conduct the sausage sizzle (immediately after the sand modelling competition, scheduled for Sunday 3 January) and the AGM on 10 January 2021. We do not expect any problem running the Davies Cup (on 7 January). In the case of the AGM, if it cannot be conducted face to face, it will be held via Zoom instead.
We will continue to monitor developments and inform residents of any necessary changes. In the circumstances, we will not put out the ‘fridge magnet’ Calendar of Community Events this year.
